Our first bocce tounament, held in conjunction with Dogfish Head and Republic Distributing, was a great success!
Sixteen teams of four played in the double-elimination match on Udall Park's three sand bocce courts. Republic Distributing provided Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and Indian Brown Ale, 1702 brought in plenty of pizza for the teams to enjoy, and Dogfish Head awarded the Grand Prize. Play began at 2 PM with many 1702 regulars, some new faces, and even a few teams from the Phoenix area engaging in bocce battle. The action was competitive, but good-spirited as the 16 teams worked their way toward a winner. By 10:30 (finally!) it was all over. Team Bocce Ballz defeated 1702's, The Thompsons, in a a come-from-behind victory to take First Place, and win an all expense paid trip to the 4th Annual Dogfish Head Intergalactic Bocce Tournament, held May 1 - 3 in Scottsdale. Other notable teams included the Douche Bags, with great costumes! I've included the random pictures that I took at the event, in no particular order, and without captions.
